ABOUT ROYALSTEEZ:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"ROYALSTEEZ (Brian, Amsterdam 1972) is a conceptual artist that flirts with the world of design. He started out with graffiti in the early 80’s. He got into computer design and photography in the mid 90’s and worked as a freelancer for various agencies like Saatchi & Saatchi. In 2006 he picked up the spraycans again for some live-action painting and joined the KMDG crew (kwaste met die gaste). In 2007 he had his first solo-exposition with pictures from jazzmusicians and in that same year he won the Matt Holland design competition with his design ‘ROYAL SLEEZ’.

His work ‘For the love of candy’, a copy of Damien Hirst his ‘For the love of God’ but covered with yellow handmade sweets, has been on more shows than the diamond skull of Hirst itself.
ROYALSTEEZ took part in 9 exhibitions in 2008 and got his first grant by the AFK (Amsterdam Fund for Arts) in april 2009. He is also nominated for the ‘Frans Verlinden Artprize 2009’ with his work ‘In between stations’ and will show ‘Spraycan Massacre_part 2’ at Museumnacht Amsterdam in canvas, 7 november tm 7 december. His best known work is ‘SORRY’. A sculpture with the word ‘SORRY’ made out of blue shopping baskets. The sculpture
was never shown because ROYALSTEEZ got arrested on the art festival ‘De wereld van Witte de With, Rotterdam’ for robbery and embezzlement of more than 100 shopping baskets. Clearly his apology was not accepted.
