NEW WORK BY ROYALSTEEZ AT 'ART PIE INTERNATIONAL/KUNSTVLAAI 2010'

During the art fair ‘Art Pie International/Kunstvlaai 2010’ (may 15/23) artist ROYALSTEEZ will show his biggest work so far. More than 75 discarded mattresses, arranged very adjacent , will lay along the channel promonade. The appearance will look like a very large bedroom party, but it would also can be a cemetery. Only the stains are left as paintings of these unknown souls.

Will visitors be able to resist not to lie on it? Or will they be discussted by the confrontation with the most intimate object in a humanlife.

"Beste verhaal van de avond kwam zonder twijfel van Brian Kersbergen. Zijn presentatie start met de vraag wat kunst is, en op welke manier dit kunstenaars bezig heeft gehouden. Hij haalt onder Marcel Duchamp aan en enkele andere kunstenaars. Dan schakelt hij moeiteloos over op eigen werk zoals zijn eigen Damiën Hirst schedel die hij met snoep bedekte en de winkelmandjes die hij stal van een lokale supermarkt om daarmee sorry te zeggen."

SPRAYCANDY, the CMYK serie
“Scandalous, vandalous... delicious!”

International candy shop papabubble, famous for its handcrafted sweets, has once again joined forces with artist ROYALSTEEZ. After a successful first collaboration throughout 2008 and 2009, they are back with an exclusive collection of tasty goods: “SPRAYCANDY, the CMYK series”. Yes, a 400 grams lollipop in the shape of a spraycan! There are 4 flavourful colours: Bubblegum Cyan, Strawberry Magenta, Banana Yellow and Passionfruit Black.

Last December, ROYALSTEEZ covered a skull with yellow papabubble sweets and called it “For the Love of Candy”, a delicious version of Damien Hirst’s diamond skull “For the Love of God”. This first collaboration between papabubble and ROYALSTEEZ was a huge success among critics. Throughout 2009, “For the Love of Candy” was on show at several international arts events including the Dutch Affordable Art Fair – it will continue a world tour in 2010.

The limited edition “SPRAYCANDY, the CMYK series” is on sale until 31 December 2009! Available only at papabubble, Haarlemmerdijk 70 Amsterdam. CHECK

'SORRY' AT THE 'WERELD VAN WITTE DE WITH' FESTIVAL 2009

In a timeperiod of a year artist ROYALSTEEZ took home shoppingbaskets of a big supermarket. He never brought them back, instead it became an obsession. His total is now at 103. Did he cross the border? Did he went too far? Would he be arrested during this festival for being guilty of stealing? And if so...would he be dismissed if he said 'Sorry'? ROYALSTEEZ will appologize in public by buiding the word 'SORRY' out of these baskets" (Elsbeth Grievink, PR WWW)

'ROYALSTEEZ NOMINATED'

ROYALSTEEZ has been nominated for the 'Frans Verlinden Artprize 2009' with his work 'In between stations'. The winner will be announced at the opening of 'DRANG' on 28th of october 2009. Hotel Winston in Amsterdam where ROYALSTEEZ and other artists will be on show.
